First KRACH Rankings of 22-23 Reveal a Strong Southeast Division

(Milwaukee, WI) — Following the first full Interdivisional weekend of the 2022-2023 WCCHA Season, the initial league KRACH Rankings tip the scales towards the Southeast. Having garnered some suprising, yet strong, results – particularly as the round was hosted by the Northwest – the Southeast currently occupy 5 of the top 8 spots in the rankings table.

With games counted through November 17, the Wisconsin Badgers sit atop the Rankings with a 6-0 record. Nipping at their heals, though, are the Golden Eagles of Minnesota-Crookston, who matched their impressive ACHA M2 Central Region Rankings position with a similar one in the WCCHA. St. Thomas, fresh off an emphatic road win over national #1 U. of Mary, hold the #3 spot – despite that result not counting towards league rankings, the Tommies have already built a strong league resume at 10-2.

UW-Eau Claire is next at #4, having earned hard-fought splits against both Minnesota-Crookston, St. Thomas, and Minnesota-Duluth. The University of Minnesota is at #5, while the University of Minnesota-Duluth have signaled their intent in the league with a 7-3 overall record – good for 6th. Rounding out the top 8 are Minnesota State-Mankato at #7 and Jamestown at #8.

The remaining teams are: #9 Gustavus Adolphus, #10 St. John’s, #11 Bethel, #12 Winona State, #13 (T) St. Cloud State, and #13 (T) North Dakota.

Of course, there is a significant portion of the season still to be contested, with plenty of movement still possible. With the Thanksgiving break on the horizon, league teams will look to earn some crucial wins in the run in to Finals and the Semester Break to continue to build a resume fit for tournament qualification.
